Your contribution supports content and the infrastructure that makes an open internet possible. FediPass manages your pass and calculates the distribution; FediPay handles billing.
More than content
The Fediverse is not just content providers. It also includes software, servers and developers. With FediPass, we want to support all these aspects.
Part of your contribution is intended for participating content providers, another part for Fediverse infrastructure such as your Mastodon server. Contributions also support FediPass's operation. Payment collection fees and applicable taxes must be taken into account.
Understandable statements
In FediPass, you choose your pass, adjust distribution and manage participation. In FediPay, you provide your billing address and payment options and review payments and invoices. As a recipient, you also manage payout details and review payout statements there. The exact shares and choices depend on your plan, and you can adjust some of them yourself in FediPass. Standard and Premium let you reduce the FediPay share to the plan's minimum; Basic has fixed shares. Even if that hurts us, we want you to have that choice.
Especially at the beginning, like your Fediverse server, we depend on your contributions. Our aim is to give you as much freedom and a clear overview as possible.
Payment data stays at the payment desk
FediPay needs information for billing, not your detailed usage behaviour: FediPass sends calculated amounts, not your likes, timeline or reading history.
